Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences have the opportunity to enhance their classroom learning through a variety of means including service-learning, academic internships and international study abroad programs.
In 2007-2008, CLAS students will participate in study abroad coursework in the Czech Republic, India, China, Russia, Italy, England, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, and Belgium.

Students in the College work with faculty on research projects such as
- the roosting habits of Townsend's Big-Eared Bats in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science
- siamese fighting fish (Betta Splendens) in the Department of Psychology
- the effects of gender, self-esteem, and social desirability on superiority in the Department of Psychology
- the sociology of Latino gang leadership in El Salvador in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology
- the characterization of the genetic structure among brook trout in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science
- Physics students collaborated with researchers at Jefferson Laboratories to develop a prototype of a new electron beam detector and a new electron detection system
